A man traveling from out of state with his son and his son’s friend was stopped on the highway in Cooper County and found to have an excessive amount of marijuana that was purchased in a State where it was legal. Combs Waterkotte reviewed the evidence with painstaking detail, drafted a motion to suppress evidence believing there was no probable cause for the traffic stop and thus arguing the evidence (marijuana) should be thrown out. After lengthy negotiations with the prosecuting attorney and discussing the motion to suppress, Combs Waterkotte was able to get our client’s son’s case dismissed along with the other passenger and the client went from looking at 2 years in Missouri Department of Corrections to 45 days shock time.
