Combs Waterkotte represented a Kirksville, Missouri woman, a school teacher, on an appeal to the Child Abuse & Neglect Review Board after Social Services made a finding that our client was the perpetrator of neglect or abuse of a child. Social Services alleged that our client was aware of her husband’s manufacturing and distribution of marijuana out of their home, where their two children resided. At the appeal hearing, we argued that there was no evidence indicating our client had any knowledge of her husband’s drug activity. The Board agreed and reversed the Social Services finding. Our client was removed from the child abuse database, and her career as a school teacher was saved.
